Trenton firefighters responded to 1010 Avalon Friday afternoon where there was minor fire damage to the kitchen area and moderate to heavy smoke damage throughout an apartment.
Firefighters, while inside fighting the blaze, were also able to get a dog to exit the apartment.
Fire department Lieutenant Doug Franklin said the cause of the accidental blaze was under investigation but originated at the stove top.
No injuries were reported and two adjacent apartments were evacuated, an adjacent apartment but it was not occupied.
Firefighters were on the scene about an hour and twenty minutes and the occupant, Charlene Drake, got out safely.
