On the first day fireworks can be legally sold in the city of Trenton, members of the Trenton Fire Department yesterday conducted inspections at two locations in Trenton involving the sale of fireworks.

The activity is described as part of the Trenton Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Program in conjunction with the Missouri Division of Fire Safety. Trenton firefighters inspect the retail sellers and fireworks displays each year.

According to the fire department, inspections center around safety compliance; not only making sure there aren’t any ignition hazards such as poor wiring or other typical violations of the fire code, but also additional precautions like making sure cars aren’t being allowed to park too close to the tents, or that warning signs prohibiting smoking have been posted.
