During interviews held in Columbia, Trenton FFA member Mariah Fox was selected as one of 16 individuals to be a Missouri State FFA Officer for the 2017-2018 year.

Officials say this is the first year of a new and more rigorous process for selecting state FFA officers. During the first day of the selection process, Mariah completed a 50 question FFA and Missouri agriculture knowledge test, a writing exercise, and a ten-minute personal interview. She also did a stand-and-deliver exercise where she was given ten minutes to prepare a three to five-minute speech on a given topic.

After making the cut into the top 20 on day two, Mariah had another ten-minute personal interview and completed a group situation round with other state officer candidates. Each was asked to develop a plan for a given scenario and answer questions about their plan. The final 16 officers were announced later that night.

The state FFA President, 1st Vice President, and Secretary will be announced at state FFA convention Thursday, April 20 in Columbia.

After the convention, Mariah will conduct and assist with a variety of FFA activities across Missouri over the next year. Mariah, a senior at Trenton high school, is the daughter of Phillip and Kristie Fox.
