Trenton, Chillicothe teens seriously injured in Sunday ATV accident

Trenton and Chillicothe boys were hurt Sunday when an all terrain vehicle hit a tree at Farmersville, throwing both teens off of the machine.

The driver, 14-year-old Matthew Miller of Chillicothe, was transported to Hedrick Medical Center at Chillicothe, then flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.

An occupant on the ATV, 14-year old Kristopher Holtzclaw of Trenton, was taken to Hedrick Medical Center with serious injuries.

The accident happened shortly after noon Sunday on private property off county road 243 at Farmersville. The ATV sustained moderate damage.

Neither teen was wearing safety equipment.

The highway patrol was assisted by the Grundy County and Livingston County Sheriff’s department and the Grundy County Rural Fire District.
