The Trenton High School Key Club will be hosting an Alumni Recognition event during the THS Bulldog Football game on Friday, September 2nd. The event, which has been dubbed, AlumNight will feature a variety of activities as well as a scholarship fundraiser.

Key Club members will be collecting donations for the Dual-Credit Scholarship Program at Trenton High School. The scholarships will be awarded to students who are enrolled in dual-credit classes at the high school but need financial aid for those classes. Currently, dual credit tuition is $90 per credit hour with the majority of classes offered to be 3-hour classes. Students at THS are eligible to take upper-level, dual-credit courses if they meet certain pre-requisites including ACT scores and GPA.

This semester 146 Trenton High School students are taking dual credit classes totaling 399 credit hours. Upperclassmen at THS are encouraged to take advanced classes which are typically dual-credit classes. Many, however, opt not to take those classes because of the financial burden, although they can still take the classes without receiving college credit. It is hoped that those with financial barriers to dual credit courses or those who may not have definite college plans will be encouraged to attend with the help of a scholarship.

In addition to the scholarship fund drive, former “Friday Night Lights” alumni will also have the opportunity to participate activities during pregame. The THS Band is inviting all former band members to participate in the playing of the “Fight Song” during pregame. All alumni band members who wish to participate should meet at the band room at 6:00 pm on Friday night.

Special guests of the evening will be the 1990 THS Football team who were coached by Sam Pittman. This memorable team was the first District title winner in THS football history. A highlight of the season occurred in front of an estimated crowd in excess of 3,000, with the Bulldogs defeating the Chillicothe Hornets for the first time since 1966, claiming the Sugar Bucket for Trenton High School. Members of the 1990 football team should meet at 6:30 near the east gate at the stadium on Friday to prepare to be recognized.

THS Key Club is in hopes that everyone, alumni or not, will attend the THS home football game on Friday night and enjoy the sense of community pride.
