Grundy County Jewett Norris Library has received a technology mini-grant of $8,500 to improve computer lab services by adding 14 laptop computers.

Adding the laptops will enable the library in Trenton to expand the number and types of programs it offers.

According to the Secretary of State’s office, mini-grants are funded by the Library Services and Technology Act through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Other area libraries also are receiving grants through the Secretary of States’ office. Carrollton Public Library receives $4,600 for the eight-week summer reading program for children from birth to 13 years old. Albany Carnegie Public Library has been awarded over $6,100 for its summer library program in a partnership with the Albany R-3 school district, Wee Care, Adventure Club, and local churches which is geared for pre-schoolers, elementary age children, and teenagers.

The Missouri State Library in the fiscal year 2017 has approved 89 grants distributing more than $718,000 in federal awards to libraries across the state.
