AUSTIN, Texas (UPI) — An Austin man survived a fall off the 9th floor of a parking garage after he accidentally drove through the wire barrier on Friday.
The man’s 2004 Toyota 4Runner was caught in the wire barrier long enough for him to climb through the sunroof to safety on the 8th floor. Austin firefighters responded to the scene and lowered the vehicle 25 feet to the ground below.
The 24-year-old driver told police he was pulling into a parking space when he drove through the wire barrier.
“From what we understand, the driver accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake,” the Austin Fire Department posted to their Facebook page where they chronicled the event.
No one was injured.
