Teenager strikes farm implement being towed by Hamilton man with SUV

A St. Joseph teenager was injured this morning when the sports utility vehicle she was driving struck an implement being towed by a farm tractor two miles east of Stewartsville.

The SUV was demolished in the wreck about 7:40 on eastbound U.S. Highway 36.

17-year-old Sydney Shurtleff was taken by ambulance to Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph with moderate injuries.

She was wearing a seat belt.

The farm tractor was driven by 50-year-old Edward Ernat of Hamilton who wasn’t hurt.

Minor damage was noted to the farm machinery.
