Teacher found unresponsive at Bloomfield, Iowa school dies

(KTVO) – Students, faculty and staff at a southeast Iowa elementary school are mourning the loss of a longtime elementary teacher.

The Davis County Community School District in Bloomfield made the announcement on its Facebook page regarding the death of elementary Title 1 Teacher Cythia Vogel.

Around 1 p.m. Thursday, Vogel was found unresponsive at school.

Emergency medical crews took her to Davis County Hospital where she died Thursday night.

The cause of death has not been released.

The district said counselors will be available at school Friday and for as long as necessary to help students cope.

This is the statement the Davis County School District posted on its Facebook page Thursday night:

“It is with a heavy heart that we share that our friend Mrs. Vogel, elementary Title 1 teacher, passed away this evening. We encourage you to speak with your children and please know that we will have counselors available tomorrow and for as long as they are needed. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.”
