A Chillicothe man eluded law enforcement on U. S. 36 around Chillicothe Thursday.

Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox reports a Missouri Parole Officer observed 30-year-old Nathan Osborne walking along the highway when he fled into brush and timber.

Osborne, who is on probation/parole, had an outstanding Chillicothe Municipal arrest warrant for possession of marijuana and a Buchanan County arrest warrant for child neglect.

Deputy Nicholas Leadbetter located Osborne walking on U. S. 36 west of Chillicothe Thursday night.

The suspect was also wanted on a probation violation arrest warrant and Osborne ran towards timber when Leadbetter approached him, with Leadbetter giving chase.  Osborne tripped and fell, and refused orders to show both hands only showing his left hand and kept his right hand hidden from the deputy.  Leadbetter used a taser on Osborne and saw a large knife near the suspect’s right hand.

Osborne continued to ignore commands to roll away from the knife, and Leadbetter told him he would be tased again if he did not comply.  The suspect then rolled away from the knife, was handcuffed, and was transported to Hedrick Medical Center to be cleared for confinement.

Osborne was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail and now faces additional charges of felony resisting arrest and weapon offense.

Chief Deputy Michael Claypole, the Highway Patrol, and the Chillicothe Police and Emergency Services Departments assisted Leadbetter.
