Two Spickard residents received injuries when cars they were driving collided Wednesday afternoon at an intersection three miles east of Spickard.

The highway patrol listed injuries as moderate for 60-year-old Cheryl Burtch who was taken by ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton. The other driver, 19-year-old Nina Jermanovich, received minor injuries and according to the patrol, declined medical treatment at the scene.

An investigator said Ms. Jermanovich was westbound on 118th street and had stopped the car at the Route Y intersection, then continued west across Route Y but drove into the path of a northbound car driven by Ms. Burtch.  After impact, the patrol said the Jermanovich car overturned once with both vehicles ending up off the northwest corner of the intersection.

Both were demolished and the drivers were using seat belts.
