Residential collection of solid waste items banned from landfills is scheduled this coming Saturday, September 30th for Grundy County. Eligible items may be dropped off between 9 and 12 noon on Saturday at the warehouse, 807 East 7th Street.

The city of Trenton and Grundy County, in conjunction with the North Missouri Solid Waste Management District, sponsors the solid waste collection event.

This is funded in part with grant money from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Some fees apply to certain items in an effort to defray costs of disposal. This includes passenger car tires and tractor tires that have no rims, are clean and free of debris. Appliances also can be disposed of for a $5.00 fee. Televisions may be disposed of at a cost of $10.00 or $20.00 dollars depending on the size of the TV. Electronics like computer systems, printers, and fax machines have a $5.00 fee.

The collection will allow for the disposal of household hazardous waste in the original container; paint, oil, transmission, and brake fluids; aerosols, herbicides, and pesticides. Also allowed are household and rechargeable batteries, cell phones, intact car batteries and printer ink cartridges. Free will donations will be accepted.

The solid waste collection on Saturday morning is only for residential purposes.

Anyone with questions may contact Solid Waste Management District Planner Ann Hamilton at the offices of Green Hills Regional Planning Commission in Trenton.
