Savannah claims homecourt tennis win over Trenton Bulldogs

The Savannah Savages evened their spring record at 3-3, and dropped the Trenton Bulldogs to 2-3, courtesy of an 8-1 head-to-head victory in varsity tennis action on Tuesday afternoon at Savannah High School.

Trenton’s only varsity victory came at #4 singles, with Kade Ockenfels downing Kolbe Miller 8-1.  Savannah’s win were Chase Furgison, 8-4 over Jacob Davis at #1 singles; Spencer Rosenak 8-love over Nick Shields at #2 singles; Tage Young 8-1 over Bryce Whitney at #3 singles; Bayten Krumme by 8-love final at #5 singles over Creed Houghton; and Josh Cobb, doubling up Wyatt Neal 8-4 at #6 singles.

In doubles, Trenton’s #1 team of Davis and Shields struggled against Furgison and Rosenak, falling 8-love.  In the #2 doubles match, Savannah’s Young and Miller downed Trenton’s Whitney and Ockenfels 8-5, while the final in the #3 doubles match was 8-4, Savannah’s Krumme and Cobb over Trenton’s Houghton and Neal.

The schools played seven JV doubles match, with the Savages winning 4 and the Bulldogs 3.  Trenton’s team of C.J. Sibbit and Zack Maberry went 3-0, with wins by scores of 6-4, 6-2, and 7-6.  Dillon Parrack and Colten Hamilton went 0-2 and Weston Otto and Elijah Oyler 0-2 for Trenton.
