Weather permitting, on Monday, a slide repair project is planned to begin 1.3 miles west of Route K, near Novinger, in western Adair County on Highway 6.  After the first slide repair is complete, the contractor will move to 4/5 mile west of Route K to do another slide repair at that location.  The first location will involve work on both side of the road while the second will only involve the south side.  The entire project should be completed by November 1st.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is anticipating “minimal impact to traffic while the preliminary work is completed”, but warns that a temporary traffic signal will be put in place on Thursday, September 22nd until the project is completed.

Young’s General Contracting Inc. of Poplar Bluff was awarded the contract of $441,822.

Nearby to the project starting next week, MoDOT crews will be doing bridge work on Highway 6 at the Chariton River Bridge (at Novinger) on Wednesday and Thursday, September 28th and 29th (weather permitting).  This location is between Highway 157 and Highway 149.  There will be one lane traffic from 8 to 4 o’clock while the work is completed each day.
