Reception to honor retiring Fire Chief Rick Morris to be held July 1

The Trenton Fire Department will host an open reception in honor of Chief Rick Morris Friday, July 1st from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the Fire Station on East 17th Street.

Morris’s retirement marks the end of his five-year tenure as Chief of the Trenton Fire Department, and the conclusion of a fire service career spanning 45 years.

Morris’s achievements as Chief of the Trenton Fire Department include bringing obsolete and unsafe equipment into compliance with industry standards,increasing fiscal responsibility, increasing the department’s focus on training and certification, implementing fire inspections, and increasing public outreach through fire safety education.

A spokesman said Chief Morris leaves the department with a shared vision of the future, with continued working relationships involving the Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District and the Grundy County Ambulance Service.
