The Parent Teacher Organization at Princeton has donated $25, 000 to the Princeton School District to help with playground equipment.

The money will be used to add supplemental equipment and complete the scheduled project. The board gave an update on playground upgrades during a meeting this week.

Drainage work is to begin this month, the concrete work is to be completed by early August, and playground structures are to be installed during the third week of August.

The first day of classes at Princeton is August 24th.

The board approved a project to update window screens at the elementary school. Superintendent Jerry Girdner said the project was supported by the Parent Teacher Organization. The current Window screens are damaged and faded. The new window tint and screens are to have UV protection film to reduce fading.

The board approved artwork for the basketball court logo to be painted the first week of August. It includes the block letter “P” with a design of the Tiger mascot. Currently, there’s no artwork at center court.

Retired teachers Danny and Marsha Shew, and current Art teacher Becci Shew are volunteering their time for the artwork.

The board accepted the resignation of paraprofessional Lisa McClain and approved the employment of Scott Ussery as a Junior High School football coach, and Kevin Knutson as a custodian.

The board was presented the first draft of a new lease agreement with the Stacy Center. The school district is implementing swimming into the curriculum for the upcoming school year.

The board was informed about a need to replace a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning unit on the Stacy Center. The unit is for the locker rooms, foyer, offices, and storage area. A proposal is to be presented at an upcoming meeting.

The board approved an agreement with LJ Hart and Company for bond underwriting services.

The Princeton district is launching a new website in the upcoming weeks. Superintendent Girdner said the existing site is dated and difficult to update because of the system used.

The Princeton district’s annual audit is August 2nd.

A property tax rate hearing is the evening of August 8th at 5:45 at the Princeton High School library.
