Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education approves wage increases

The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education approved to increase pay for certified teachers and non-certified hourly employees at its meeting Tuesday evening.

The base pay for certified teachers will increase $500 to $28,500 and non-certified hourly employees’ pay will increase by 25 cents an hour.

The board approved a bid from Moore’s Construction to complete the remodeling of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade classrooms.

The Wonders reading curriculum for kindergarten through sixth grade was approved and will cost the district about $25,000.

All Missouri School Boards’ Association policies were updated as well as next year’s school calendar.

The board approved the fifth through eighth grade trip to Des Moines, Iowa May 11. The students will visit the Botanical Gardens, Science City, and the Hot Air Balloon Museum.

The oath of office was administered to incumbent board member Jill Reeter and new board member Damien Little. Danny Westcott was elected President, David Meservey as Vice President, Jeff Berti as Treasurer, and Reeter as Secretary.

Superintendent Rebecca Steinhoff reported 59 personalized bricks have been sold for the construction of the new sign, which will be completed this summer.

She mentioned MAP testing will run through April 28th, KEYS awards is May 4th, eighth-grade graduation is May 5th, preschool awards are May 8th, and end of year awards are May 10th.  The last day of school for Pleasant View is May 12.

In a closed session, the board approved the rehire of all non-certified employees as well as all extra duty contracts, with the exception of athletics, for next school year.

The board also approved to pay Physical Education/Health teacher Abigail Herrold a stipend of $500 for her help with the track program this school year.

An increase in Steinhoff’s annual salary to $55,000 was also approved.
