The Chillicothe Police Department is reporting that several calls have been received in reference to phone solicitation from people claiming to be selling ads for Chillicothe schools and Chillicothe sports.

Upon contacting Chillicothe School Resource Officer Mike Lewis, CPD indicates the calls are scams.

The callers are attempting to sell business ads, and Mike Lewis has advised that school organizations such as booster clubs, will send members in person when they are fund raising.

Additional businesses have been contacted, with individuals attempting to sell a variety of advertising packages for Chillicothe school sports as well as other school programs. The calls are frequently coming from a private number or an out of state area code.

The Chillicothe Police Department reminds the public that you should not give out any information over the phone.

You may contact the Chillicothe Police Department at (660) 646-2121 or the Chillicothe R-2 School district at (660) 646-4566 if you have any questions.
