Officers seize meth, 18 pounds of pot, 500 marijuana plants near Milan

(KTVO) – Law enforcement officers found methamphetamine, marijuana and stolen property during the search of a home outside Milan late last week.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, North Missouri Drug Task Force and the Missouri State Highway Patrol carried out a search warrant on Royal Road on Thursday, March 3, 2016.

The investigation led to the arrest of Lowell McGinnis Junior, 58, of rural Milan the next day.

He was arrested at a second home of his in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Fugitive Apprehension Team took him into custody at the request of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

McGinnis is charged with three felonies: possession of a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property.

He also faces a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

During the search of McGinnis’ property, investigators found approximately 18 pounds of marijuana, a small amount of methamphetamine and a John Deere Gator stolen from Harrison County, Missouri, back in 2014.

Officers also discovered about 500 marijuana plants growing south of the residence.

McGinnis is being held in the Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail on $75,000 cash-only bond.
