The North Mercer Board of Education has adopted a budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1st in which expenditures are anticipated to exceed revenue by nearly 69-thousand dollars. Spending is estimated at nearly two point six million dollars.

The amended the current budget to show an 82-thousand dollar deficit for the fiscal year ending this June 30th. Additional expenses for the year include asphalting and sealing the parking lot, and purchasing and clean-up of two houses on the pre-school block.

The board accepted the resignation of Sarah Hoover as a special education teacher.

The board employed Sean Thurm as a social studies instructor who taught at Worth County this past school year.

Contracts were offered for secondary special education and a high school secretary. Their names are to be announced when they accept contract offers.

The North Mercer board decided to no longer allow independent study dual enrollment college courses. Students withdrawing from a course was a factor in the decision.

College courses through North Central Missouri College must now be paid in full prior to beginning the courses.
