The Newtown-Harris School Board has offered contracts for a third and fourth grade teaching position and a kindergarten through 12th grade art and librarian job.  Names were not released until signatures have been received.  The district is also awaiting a signature before announcing the hiring of a new elementary and high school principal, for a contract of one year.  The Board, on Thursday, March 10th, had agreed on the contract offer for their choice for the principal position.

Non-tenured teachers receiving contract offers from the Newtown-Harris Board, on Monday night, were Jaci Rhoades, Laura Craft, Kim Parsons, Jason Hostetter, Jerry Kiger, and Rebecca Roberts.  All of those votes were unanimous.

Retirement resignations were approved for Head Cook Betty Anderson and Special Education aide Teresa Daum.

Roof work at the elementary building has been approved.  Exteriors Unlimited of Princeton is the contractor.  The charge was not available from the N-H District.  Work will begin within a month, weather permitting.

A benefit dinner and auction for Coleman Shelton will be held on Saturday night (March 19th) at the Newtown-Harris School.  There will be an eat-and-pay-what-you-want dinner from 5:30 to 7 o’clock, and an auction, conducted by Macky Reed, at 7:30.  The benefit will go toward Shelton’s medical expenses.

Newtown-Harris alumni will play in a basketball event, beginning at 6 o’clock on the evening of Saturday, April 2nd.  A supper starts that evening at 5 o’clock.  It is a fundraiser for the future health professionals organized called HOSA.
