The Newtown-Harris school district has been awarded a three-thousand dollar safety grant.

It’s from a legislative appropriation to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The grant is administered by the Missouri School Boards Association through its Missouri center for education safety.

The center provides training, technical assistance, and other safety-related initiatives.

Newtown-Harris is to use its three-thousand dollar safety grant to purchase a voice over internet phone and intercom system.

The Missouri School Boards Association stated Newtown-Harris competed with other public schools in the state for a limited amount of funding available to enhance school safety.

The grant application was written by Newtown-Harris Superintendent Kim Johnson.
