The Newtown-Harris Board of Education has accepted the resignation of Social Science teacher Rebecca Roberts and the retirement of Special Education consultant Patty Stark.

Patty Stark is to return on a part-time basis after a state-mandated month off from the job.

A retired teacher, Dennis Ryan, is to be the Social Science instructor who previously taught at Seymour, Iowa.

The board offered a contract for the remainder of this school year to Andrea Luper as a seventh through 12th grade Family and Consumer Science and Business teacher. She has three years of teaching experience at Milan. The position at Newtown-Harris had been filled by long-term substitute Terry Daum, a retired Newtown-Harris Special Education teacher.

Among other topics, the district received a 92% rating on the annual performance report for this past school year.

Persons wishing to run for the Newtown-Harris Board of Education in April can file at the school during regular office hours December 13th through January 17th.

There are three, three-year terms to fill.
