Newtown-Harris Board of Education approves budget amendments

The Newtown-Harris R-3 School District Board of Education approved amendments to the 2016-2017 budget as well as the 2017-2018 budget at its meeting Monday evening.

The board approved the purchase of a 2002 Freightliner as a backup bus from Durham Bus Services for $1,500.

It also approved paying $862.89 for its portion of the breaker box project completed by the North Central Rural Electric Cooperative for the Newtown-Harris Ball Association and the district. The association and the district shared the expense.

Weston Heating from Unionville completed a central air conditioning project at the preschool for $2,400.

The board approved the Missouri Virtual Instruction Program in math for ninth through 12th grades.

Josey Young was approved as an aid for next school year, and Navontae Rainey was hired as an additional maintenance worker for the summer.
