KTTN News places emphasis on local and area happenings. Unlike many other
smaller stations, we have a trained newsman on duty seven days a week. There are two
full-time news people, plus two members of management who fill in when needed and also
cover several regular assignments. Together, they have more than 75 years experience in
news at KTTN!
TODAY'S NEWS UPDATES...
The Station carries news
from two dozen city, county, and regional government meetings, as well as actions from
school board meetings in six counties. Emphasis is placed on Grundy County, where the
station is licensed, but about a third of the coverage is from surrounding counties. To
keep listeners informed of what's going on at the state
Capitol, there are weekly interviews with several area legislators.
Over the years, the station
has been recognized for investigative reporting and coverage of public issues, and we have
received several awards from local and regional educational organizations. In times of bad
weather, KTTN carries school closings or
postponements for more than 25 districts in nine counties.
For more than 40 years,
local and area election coverage has been virtually unparalleled by other small market
stations. KTTN broadcasts hours of continuous coverage on dozens of issues and candidate
races in north Missouri. Included are network reports on state and national elections. The
owners of KTTN, all of whom have a news background, have long realized the value listeners
place on wanting to be informed. |
