The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates hosted Jefferson College in a battle of two of the top teams in NJCAA Division One, Region 16 softball on Friday afternoon.  While the Lady Pirates have shown great improvement this season, coming into the game with an eight-game winning streak and an 8-2 region record, Jefferson’s Lady Vikings made the statement at Mark Griffin Field, sweeping the doubleheader to improve to 29-11 overall, and 8-2 in region play.  The final scores were not on the pretty side for NCMC, with Jefferson blasting the Lady Pirate pitching staff in a 29-9, five inning win in Game #1, followed by a 9-1 triumph in Game #2.

The wins for Jefferson polished off an outstanding 24 hour period, that started Thursday with JeffCo winning a pair of games at St. Louis Community College, 9-6, 11-1.

The losses for NCMC drop the Lady Pirates season mark to 21-11 overall, and 8-4 in region play.  NCMC will look to get back in the win column on Sunday afternoon, hosting St. Charles Community College in a 1:00/3:00 doubleheader at Mark Griffin Memorial Field.

While the Lady Pirates are home this weekend, the NCMC baseball team is on the road.  The Pirates are in St. Louis to take on the Archers of St. Louis Community College in a four-game series.  Doubleheaders will be played both Saturday and Sunday in the Gateway City.
