The North Central Missouri College softball team is 5-4 through two weekends of play in the 2016 season, having gone 2-3 on Friday and Saturday at the Cowtown Classic at Gateway Park in Fort Worth, Texas.
On Friday, the Lady Pirates were blasted by Highland (Kansas) Community College, 10-2 in six innings. In their second game of the day, North Central beat Central College, 5-3. An 8-3 loss to Vernon College finished off Friday.
On Saturday, the Lady Pirates opened play with an 11-8 loss to Johnson County (Kansas) Community College. In a five-inning blowout, punctuated by a no-hitter thrown by Bailey Perkins, NCMC bounced Allen County (Kansas) 10-1. Perkins picked up both victories for North Central over the weekend, giving up only six hits in 12 innings pitched.
Madi Trump, a sophomore for NCMC and a Trenton native, went 8 for 15 with four doubles, 5 RBI's, four walks, and 7 runs scored.
