For those of you travelling through areas near St. Joseph and Linn County, you need to be aware of work crews from MoDOT.  Several areas will be under work with motorist needing to use alternate routes.

Routine maintenance will close a ramp at the Interstate 229 and U.S. Route 36 interchange in St. Joseph. Crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation had planned to close the ramp from westbound U.S. Route 36 to northbound I-229 last Friday, but the work had to be postponed. The closure is now been planned for Thursday, Sept. 29, from approximately 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Motorists will need to use an alternate route during the closures. All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

A portion of Route C in Linn County will close Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016. Local crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation will close Route C between Route CC and Route 11 for a culvert replacement from approximately 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. During this closure, motorists will need to use an alternate route.

U.S. Route 36 will close several times on Tuesday, Oct. 4 and Wednesday, Oct. 5 for bridge work. Contractors working with the Missouri Department of Transportation will close westbound U.S. Route 36 at the site of the Ag Expo interchange project, just east of St. Joseph,  in order to set bridge beams. The road will be closed for approximately 10 to 15 minutes six different times throughout each day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists will not need to seek an alternate route, but should expect delays. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.

The following Monday, Oct. 10, crews will close the eastbound lanes in the same manner to set bridge beams on the southern half of the new overpass.
