Missouri woman pleads guilty to murder in connection to death of 7-year-old stepson

Heather Jones

KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -The stepmother accused of killing a 7-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder and two counts of child abuse.
Heather Jones, 30, has accepted a plea agreement from prosecutors and admits to killing AJ, also known as Adrian.

Police came to the couple’s Piper home in the 5200 block of N. 99th Street on Nov. 25 on a report of Michael Jones attacking his wife and firing a gun at her.

As the investigation continued, someone told them to check for Adrian’s decomposed body.

The day after, investigators discovered remains of a child in a barn on the property. A law enforcement source told KCTV5 the remains were fed to pigs.

It was later determined by investigators AJ was confined to the home and abused repeatedly.

Michael Jones, a co-defendant in the case, requested a new attorney at a hearing on Thursday. It was denied.

His trial is set for Feb. 6, 2017.
