HAZELWOOD, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a suburban St. Louis police officer seriously injured.
KMOV-TV (http://bit.ly/2bKH2ds ) reports that the accident happened Thursday afternoon on Dunn Road near Interstate 70 in north St. Louis County.
Police say a Hazelwood officer was driving to a call when a car pulled in front of the police cruiser, causing a head-on crash. The police car flipped several times and landed on its roof.
The officer had to be cut out of the vehicle. He was flown to a hospital. Authorities say he is expected to recover. His name has not been released, but he is a 10-year veteran of the Hazelwood department.
The driver of the car refused treatment and is cooperating with the investigation.
