A Milan resident received serious injuries when the car he was driving ran off a road southeast of Milan hitting a tree.
37-year old Ricky Smith was taken to University Hospital in Columbia.
The accident happened early Saturday five miles southeast of Milan on Royal Road as the eastbound car traveled off the right side of the road striking a tree extensively damaging the vehicle.
Smith was accused of driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain the right half of the road, and not wearing a seatbelt.
