A resident of Milan, 25-year-old Cody Peterie, received what the highway patrol called serious injuries when the northbound vehicle he was driving ran off both sides of Highway 139, collided with the ditch, overturned, struck a tree, and came to rest upside down.
Cody Peterie, whom the patrol said was thrown out of the SUV, was taken by ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
The accident happened two miles south of Humphreys about 7 o’clock Thursday night and the report noted Peterie was not using a seat belt.
The sports utility vehicle was demolished.
