The North Mercer Board of Education has accepted the resignations of Social Studies teacher Brian Patterson, Communication Arts instructor Angie Michaelis, and Band teacher Ethan Stewart – all at the end of the school year.

The district is accepting applications for those positions.  All other current teachers were employed for the 2016-2017 school year.  Salaries are to be determined after more information is received concerning the salary schedule.

Superintendent Dan Owens indicated the board is “committed to increasing compensation”.  No decision was made regarding the benefit package for next school year because of unknown health insurance costs.

The district paid 100% of health insurance costs this school year, which is $449.00 monthly per employee.

The board has said the district would not pay less than what it is paying for health insurance this school year.

The North Mercer Board has re-employed Jeff Wyatt as boys basketball coach and Dan Owens as the girls basketball coach.  Jeremy Clevenger of Chillicothe was employed to perform auditing services for the district.  Summer school was approved.  The dates temporarily have been scheduled for May 23rd through June 8th.  Summer projects were discussed.  They include switching the high school office and ITV room for easier access.
