Livingston County Sheriff reports on arrests and investigations, including an extortion case

The Livingston County Sheriff’s office is investigating a reported case allegedly involving extortion where a person has allegedly made multiple postings and emails with at least one suggesting payment for the negative postings and damaging postings to be removed. Investigation continues and the report will be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration.

The department recently assisted a Chillicothe business with a person who was potentially stalking/harassing an employee. The LCSO interviewed the person of interest and no additional problems are expected. The business will prosecute on any future harassment.

On May 6, an investigation into a reported Sexual Misconduct began. The location was in rural Livingston County and all witnesses and the suspect have since been interviewed. The case file is being submitted to the Prosecuting Attorney for consideration.


 

Arrests:

May 14 a LCSO deputy made a vehicle stop and subsequently arrested Sonjia Joan Cahill, 53, Kansas City for alleged Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Register Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Provide Insurance.

May 14 authorities in the State of Kentucky served a Livingston County arrest warrant on a Most Wanted fugitive. Arrested was Gregory W. Atwood, 29, wanted for alleged PROBATION VIOLATION on original charge of class C felony drug violation. Mr. Atwood will be extradited back to Livingston County at first opportunity.

May 12 the LCSO and MSHP served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Claude John Spainhour, 67, Chillicothe for alleged Failure to Obey a Judge’s Order on bond conditions of original charge class D felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Bond was placed at $50,000 cash and Mr. Spainhour was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.

May 11 LCSO deputy witnessed vehicle run stop light and then attempt to evade/elude our officer. The driver went through alley and side street(s) at slow speeds in Chillicothe and one man left the car during the attempted stop. Once the driver halted his car the deputy arrested Tony Michael Lamb, 28, Chillicothe for alleged Driving While Revoked and Failure to Stop at a Stop Light.

Drug investigation from April 07 in Utica has resulted in an arrest. On May 11 the LCSO served a Livingston County arrest warrant on James Bryan Harris, 62, Utica, for alleged 2 class C felony counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bond was initially placed at $20,000 and Mr. Harris was transferred to DDCRJ. Potential charges on additional person(s) is under review.


Other Information:

May 18 a deputy issued a 19 year old Kansas driver a citation for 90 in a 65 at U.S. 36 and Liv 408.

Other citations issued recently include Failure to register vehicle to a Chillicothe man with expired plates from February. Citation to a Livingston County man for No Auto Insurance. Issued speeding citation to Illinois resident for 82 in a 65. Speeding citation to St. Joseph resident for 90 in a 65.   Citations to Chillicothe woman for Failure to Register Motor Vehicle and No Auto Insurance. Speeding Citation to Illinois resident for 83 in a 65.
