Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox has released a report on recent investigations and activities.

A  deputy and highway patrol trooper responded to a location in Utica for a reported disturbance between family members. Officers arrested Brandon Scott Mobely, 24, Utica for alleged peace disturbance.  Mobely was taken to a safe location and released with a citation.

The department began an investigation of theft from a parked and unattended vehicle. The victim reported the following items were stolen from the truck in the 100 block of Mohawk: Epson Projector and bag, speakers, cords, employment items, and various credit/debit card receipts. Investigation continues.

Officers responded to a repeated complaint of horses being out and wandering in Utica. The owner reported they will be taking the animals to a farm where they can keep them fenced.  A report is being submitted to the prosecuting attorney on the complaint(s) of failing to maintain control of an animal.

Officers with the department served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Denver Page Devore, 22, Chillicothe for alleged class D felony of unlawful use of a weapon.  Devore could not post bond and was transferred to the Daviess-Dekalb County Regional Jail.

Sheriff Cox reports the July 4th weekend was extremely quiet for the department, with very few calls for service,  so the staff worked on criminal investigations, reports, civil process, and patrolled.

The department conducted court security as Circuit Judge R. Brent Elliott accepted a guilty plea from a defendant in a Saline County murder case. Judge Elliott accepted the plea to murder 2nd degree and armed criminal action with a sentencing date will be scheduled in the near future.

A deputy assisted the Juvenile Office in transporting a juvenile to an approved detention facility.
