Laredo R-7 Board of Education has set the total tax levy at nearly $5.89 cents on the 100 dollars of assessed valuation.

This includes four-48 for the general levy plus the voter-approved $1.40 levy increase.

It was reported last year that the Laredo board had set the levy then at $5.69 per 100 dollars.

At the meeting last night, the board approved continuing to have buses pick up students who live less than one mile from the school. Approval was given to tentative bus routes for the coming school year as well as the late start schedule if morning weather is inclement.

Also approved were free and reduced lunch price eligibility criteria; the annual secretary of the board report; and special education compliance plan.

A discussion was held on creating a Facebook page for the Laredo school.

After an executive session, the Laredo board of education offered a contract to Brittni Palmer as the first and second-grade teacher. The parents as teacher position was offered to Courtney Deaver who is expected to share her time with employment by the Pleasant View R-6 school.

Classes begin August 24th at the Laredo School.
