Laredo and Jamesport board of education meeting results

A preliminary 2017-18 school calendar is being reviewed by the Laredo R-7 board of education.

Members are looking at two options for the next school year. The topic is to be on the agenda for next months’ meeting. The board last night also reviewed a list of building improvements, bus repairs, and the budget. Members were presented certificates of recognition, and a meal, in honor of school board member week.

Filings for the board of education election at Laredo continue through January 17 at 5 o’clock.

With terms expiring in April are Jim Marsh, Stephen Lowrey, and Jason Meeker.

Laredo school has its own spelling bee January 24 at 2 o’clock. Winners advance to the Grundy County spelling bee February 7 at 4:30 pm in the Trenton Middle School.

Among the information provided at a meeting last night of the Tri-County of Jamesport board of education, approval was given to the senior class trip proposal.

Members reviewed a preliminary school calendar for 2017-18, the current budget, and proposed updates to board policies.

Reports were presented from the fifth grade, activities director, superintendent and school principal.
