|KTTN is hosting a reception today, recognizing our 35th year of broadcasting on the F-M band. It was September 1978 when a new radio tower was constructed east of Trenton and KTTN FM went on the air. |
That meant we could offer live coverage at nighttime on sporting events, election returns, and coverage of severe storms.
Many years later with the purchase of broadcast computers and use of a satellite music service, KTTN was able to expand to broadcast 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
Our first radio station, KTTN AM 1600, went on the air in April of 1955, so this is actually our 58th year of broadcasting from Trenton.
Our reception is open to the public. It's sheduled from 9 o'clock until 3 o'clock at our station, 804 Main in Trenton. Persons coming by KTTN can have cake, cookies and punch, while food and drink lasts. You also can view our new F-M broadcast studio while remaining in our lobby.
Some front office remodeling also has been done.
The Trenton area chamber of commerce and ambassadors have a presentation at 11:30.
We also have some giveaways for visitors including an updated programming schedule for KTTN; the new Missouri highway map, centennial edition; maps of the cities of Trenton and Chillicothe; among other free items.
We also have for sale at our office, meal tickets ($15 cost) for our third annual benefit soiree on October 3rd in Trenton. Persons attending the October 3rd event can also bid on donated merchandise in an auction with those proceeds benefiting Disabled Athletes With Grundy Support or the DAWGS for Special Olympic athletes.
