The work was scheduled to begin today. One of the first areas planned to be impacted was the I-35 and Highway 36 interchange at Cameron.

1 lane of northbound I-35 is to be closed in 2 to 4 mile sections. A different lane may be closed each day. Motorists are asked to follow construction signs and message boards.

MoDOT says work on the northbound lanes should be completed by December 1st, weather permitting. Work on the southbound lanes is planned next spring, with the scheduled completion date July 1st of next year.

Construction is planned Monday through Saturday each week during daylight hours. Occasional work on Sundays and nights may be necessary.

Herzog Contracting Corporation was awarded a contract of more than $5.8 million for the I-35 resurfacing project.
