In extra innings, the Trenton offense EXPLODED with a five-run outburst (in the top of the 8th), as THS stayed unbeaten with a 7-2 road win against the Lady Hornets.

In a game heard on Z 101.7, Hamilton broke a scoreless tie with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, with Addy Brown scoring on a single by Alexx Angle. However, of more importance for Trenton in the inning was the work done by Mallory Hooyman in escaping a bases-loaded, no out jam AFTER the run scored, enducing two straight pop-ups and a grounder to third to keep the score at 1-0.

Trenton tied the game in the top of the sixth, with Ally Ockenfels starting a two-out rally with a single, followed by a single by pinch-hitter Lexie Tolson. Freshman Whitley Richman then came to the plate:

Hamilton retook the lead with a run in the bottom of the sixth, as Shelby Kruse scored on a sacrifice fly to right field by Maggie Biggerstaff, barely beating the throw home by Richman.

Down to their last three outs, Trenton ralled in the top of the seventh, with McKinley Hurley drawing a four-pitch walk and stealing second. After a ground ball moved Hurley to third base, Madi Trump came to the plate:

Mallory Hooyman went the complete game eight inning effort to earn the win for THS, giving up six hits, while sophomore left-hander Sydney Bottorff, who shutout Trenton over the first five innings of play, was the tough-luck loser, as Penney falls to 3-1 on the season. Trenton, now 3-0 on the campaign, will HOST Brookfield on Tuesday night at Johnson Field. The 5:00 game, with pregame at 4:50, will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and CityLinkTV.
