Mercer Cardinal Softball Shows For 9/9/13

The Mercer girls and boys softball teams started their seasons last Thursday with a pair of wins over the East Harrison Bobcats.

The Lady Cardinals, on Thursday, downed East Harrison 14-4, before splitting a pair of games on Saturday at the East Harrison Tournament, falling to Winston 6-4 before beating East Harrison for a second time, 15-6.

This week, the Mercer girls travel to North Harrison for a game with the Lady Shamrocks tonight (Monday night). The Mercer girls have the #3 seed for the HDC Tournament in Bethany, with a quarterfinal game against #6 seed Grundy R-5 coming up on Wednesday night, September 11th, at 6 o'clock at Linch Field.

The Mercer boys had an "up and down" start to the 2013 softball season, winning 15-14 on Thursday night over East Harrison (in a game shortened by time limits), and beating Newtown-Harris 6-2 on Saturday afternoon at the East Harrison Tournament. However, the Cardinals finished that event with a 16-1 loss to the Winston Redbirds.

The Cardinals, tonight (Monday night), play at North Harrison, and have earned the #4 seed for the HDC Tournament in Bethany, and a quarterfinal meeting on Wednesday night against #5 seed Newtown-Harris, at 7:30 at Linch Field.
