|Rapid Removal Disposal, which provides trash hauling services in several area communities, plans to build a transfer station at Trenton. |
It's to be on land west of its current buildings at the north edge of Trenton, once required permits are obtained from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. It's unknown how long that might actually take, but a typical timetable was mentioned around 1 year.
The transfer station is to create 4 jobs. The City of Trenton is giving Rapid Removal 10 acres of land for the transfer station facilities. Mayor Nick McHargue said the value of the land is estimated between $30,000 and $40,000.
Rapid Removal currently takes the trash it collects to transfer stations at Bethany and Chillicothe.
The transfer station at Trenton is to be an enclosed metal building about 30 feet tall with a thick concrete floor.
Watje said there's to be no odor. Trash placed in the facility will be put into a truck to be hauled away.
If a truck is kept at the site overnight, it's to be covered and located indoors.
The transfer station will be available to the general public and other companies. Watje said there are 36 transfer stations in Missouri, including the ones at Bethany and Chillicothe.
