|The Trenton Lady Bulldog softball team dominated last night's game at Lawson, routing the Lady Cardinals in a 12-0 game called after the run rule in five innings.|
THS controlled the play throughout, with junior right-hander Mallory Hooyman giving up only two base hits and striking out five Lawson girls in her night of work.
The Lady Bulldogs bats sizzled through the contest, with junior shortstop McKinley Hurley going 3 for 4 with three stolen bases and two runs scored, senior third baseman Makaila Capeder 3 for 4 with a run scored and three RBI's, and second baseman Megan Lynch with two runs scored and a base hit in three at-bats.
Ally Ockenfels stroked a pair of hits, with Daryian Otto contributing a run and RBI with a sacrifice fly, and Tosha Wilson two base hits and a walk in three at-bats, scoring Trenton's final run in the fourth inning.
Trenton is now 2-0 on the young season, with the toughest week of the campaign quickly approaching. The Lady Bulldogs have the rest of this week off, and then play back-to-back games against rivals, with a road trip to Hamilton next Monday, September 9th, and a home date with the unbeaten and defending Class 2 state runner-up Brookfield on Tuesday, September 10th. Both games start at 5 o'clock, and will be broadcast and videocast on Hot Country Z 101.7, www.kgozfm.com, and CityLinkTV.
Last night's loss drops Lawson to 1-2 on the season, with losses to Richmond and Trenton, sandwiched by a 3-1 victory last Thursday against Chillicothe.
Lawson will be one of six teams (along with Trenton, Cameron and Chillicothe) in the Class 3 district tournament hosted by Chillicothe in early October.
The Trenton JV softball team had no trouble with Lawson on Tuesday night, walloping the host Lady Cards by a final score of 22-1.

Katerina Black went 2 for 2 with a double, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Emily Lynch went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI, and Mason Hooyman went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.
