A tax levy was adopted, an award was presented, computer software purchased, personnel approved, and reports heard last evening at the monthly meeting of the North Central Missouri College Board of Trustees.

In a brief summary of actions taken: trustees approved continuing a levy of 40 centson the 100 dollars assessed valuation—which is the same rate since the college became its own entity.

An excellence in teaching award was presented to NCMC English instructor Amy Guthrie.

Trustees approved renewal of a drug screen agreement with Wright Memorial Hospital. It was implemented for student athletes the first time last year. College President Neil Nuttall said the random drug tests involving urine resulted in no positive samples during the year. He called the test a deterrent.

Vice President of Instruction James Gardner told of significant changes for North Central regarding the Higher Learning Commission accreditation process. Trustees then approved a staff recommendation to purchase software for use in electronic collection of the data.

The purchase of over 12 thousand 800 dollars--subject to renewal annually--is funded by the Instructional Technology budget.

Chelsea Woodard resigned her position as cashier and admissions effective September 4th.

Jamie Cunningham of Chillicothe was hired for a grant funded position of MoHealthWinsrecruitment and advisement specialist. Traci Morris of Chillicothe was hired as part time math instructor.

Trustees approved creation of nine month nursing faculty position. It's grant-funded in the first year. With an anticipated increase in nursing students, College President Neil Nuttall said NCMC
is likely committed to keeping the position in future years. Among Head Start personnel, Jamie Matheney resigned as Linn County Home Visitor and was replaced by Marie Jobson.

Doctor Nuttall spoke of college efforts in working with the city of Trenton regarding downtown revitalization – including promoting the sale of tax credits to make loans from a TDIA revolving fund.

Dean of students Kristen Alley spoke of a need to decrease the default rate of student loans.

Foundation Director Teresa Cross said gifts and pledges are nearing 240 thousand dollars toward the one million dollar “gifts in action” scholarships goal.
