Collisions With Deer Injure Area Motorcyclists

Two people were hurt early Friday morning in separate accidents, when the motorcycles they were driving hit deer in Daviess and Putnam Counties.

Forty-year old Jason Teel of Pattonsburg was taken to Liberty Hospital with what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries. Teel was involved in an accident shortly before sunrise on Friday, about six miles south of Pattonsburg on Route DD. Teel was southbound when the motorcycle struck a deer which crossed into his path. The machine was damaged. Teel was wearing a helmet.

Forty-seven year old Jerry Cogley of Kirksville received minor injuries when the motorcycle he was operating hit a deer on Highway 149 in eastern Putnam County. This was around 2:30 on Friday morning just north of Graysville. Cogley was thrown from the machine, which was traveling southbound. The Patrol said Cogley refused medical treatment at the scene. Motorcycle damage was moderate. Cogley was wearing a helmet.
