Kirksville Police Respond To "Man With A Gun" Call

One man was taken into custody by the Kirksville Police Department Thursday evening after a report of a fight and an individual with a handgun at the corner of Illinois and Main streets.

A call for all available units to respond to the area came shortly after 4 p.m., with initial reports that one individual involved in the fight had a gun in his possession.

The Kirksville Police Department and Adair County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and questioned four individuals before clearing the area shortly before 6 p.m.

One individual, Jerome Lee Jackson, 42, was taken into custody on a pair of warrant arrests, one for violation of probation and parole, and another for domestic assault in the second degree.

No arrests were made in relation to the reported incident. Kirksville Police said the event was under investigation. Police were uncertain if other individuals were involved in the reported fight, but that it appeared the reported individual with a gun was not at large.
