|More than 90 properties remain on the list for the annual tax sale scheduled next Monday morning, August 26th, at the Grundy County Courthouse in Trenton.|
Collector Treasurer Barbara Harris is requesting persons interested in being a possible bidder to first stop by her office this week or first thing Monday morning and get a number to be used when bidding. Information also will be obtained including name, address, and telephone number.
The tax sale begins at 10 o'clock Monday morning. There are some 97 properties still on the list for the sale—the majority of them are at Leisure Lake with the remainder scattered throughout Grundy county.
According to state laws, properties with three years of back taxes due are offered in the first sale. Those with four years of back taxes due are available for the second sale. And properties with five years of delinquent taxes are offered as a third sale.
In each case, Mrs. Harris reports there properties have to sell for the amount of taxes
against them. Those that don't eventually make it to what's called the “fourth sale” and can be sold for any amount.
