There were no injuries. Grundy county rural fire protection district and the sheriff's office responded to the scene of the fire.

Trenton Lieutenant Eric Lorenz said the call came in from the resident, Carl May, about 10 o'clock. May is quoted as telling firefighters that a transformer blew. Grundy Electric Cooperative responded to the scene and shut off the power.

Lorenz said an investigation is being done in an effort to determine what caused the south wall of the house to catch fire. Lorenz said firefighters extinguished the fire that was in insulation and particle board inside the wall. Fire damage was described as moderate to that wall.

He noted minor smoke damage was prevalent throughout the house. The rural firefighters were on the scene about 90 minutes late Sunday night.
