The Laredo Board Of Aldermen has approved ordinances dealing with filling board vacancies and holding special meetings.

Whenever a vacancy occurs on the board, a notice is to be placed in the monthly water bill, and posted at city hall and the post office for at least one month.

Then a special meeting of the board of aldermen is to be called to consider persons who have shown interest in serving on the board. Although the ordinance does not specify how persons wishing to serve on the board should express their interest, city clerk Lisa McCullough suggested they contact city hall.

Special meetings of the board can be called by the Mayor and one board member. If the mayor is incapacitated, the mayor pro-tem and one board member may call a special meeting. Public notice of at least 24 hours would need to be given before the meeting could be held, and there would need to be a quorum.
