Ribbons Results For Rock Barn Displays At NCM Fair

The North Central Missouri Fair saw wide variety of exhibits in the Rock Barn.

Local individuals representing adult, junior, and convalescent home/learning center activities display household crafts, hobbies and 4-H project areas. The overall number of individuals displaying items is almost identical to last year. All judges commended the items shown noting that overall quality was seen as being very high.

A total of 51 area youth displayed in the Youth Division of the Rock Barn this year. Displays in the Rock Barn covered a variety of areas of interest including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, cake decorating, foods, photography, and horticulture. Awards in the area of woodworking, sponsored by Moore’s Construction and Woodworking, were also given. Youth Division also saw individuals participating in the Ball-Kerr Food Preservation awards.

In the Special Woodworking category sponsored by Moore's Construction and Woodworking, youth received recognition for their woodworking skills with consideration being given to creativity and originality of their respective projects. The following were recognized: Tyler Allen (1 blue), Haley Kidd (1 blue), Tyler Kidd (1 blue), Cooper Lewis (1 red), Jenna Meservey (1 blue), Ronna Owens (2 blue), Colton Roy (2 blue), Casey Turley (3 blue and 1 red), and Robert Urich (1 blue).

In the Ball-Kerr - Youth Division, Allena Allen was recognized in the soft spread section, Trinity Gaunt - fruit, Mariah Fox in pickles and Hannah Bruse in vegetables. Ms. Bruse also received a cash prize for the Loretta Ray Youth Award; this is a newly created award which is based on the number of canned items and number of blues.

In Adult Division, 24 individuals also received recognition for their skills. Displays including a variety of food preservation, arts and crafts, and quilts, and coverlets. Loretta Ray receives the Bessie Chambers award for the most food-related items entered in Adult Division.

In the Ball-Kerr Food Preservation area, Loretta Ray was awarded first in the Fruit and Vegetable categories and second in the Soft Spread and Pickle categories. Additionally, Carolyn Souders received first in Soft Spreads. Lana Snider received first in Pickles, and second in Vegetables. Kimberly Ray was recognized for second in Fruit category.

The following individuals received ribbons as follows: Kay Anderson, 1 blue; Linda Antle, 1 blue, 2 red, 1 white; Dorothy Banner, 4 blue, 2 red; Lucille Fletcher - 1 blue, 2 red; Patricia Hemsworth - 1 blue; Jared Jasinski, 1 blue (with a Special Woodworking recognition), Connie Key – 3 blue; Deloris Kuttler, 1 blue, 2 reds; Martha Maloney, 11 blue (including one Outstanding), 1 red; Kathy Madden, 1 blue; Kara Marsh, 1 red; Kimberly Ray - 5 blue, 4 red, 3 white; Loretta Ray – 36 blue, 7 reds; Janet Reeter, 1 blue, 1 red; Marilyn Simpson – 2 blues, 3 reds, 1 white; Mitchell Snider – 1 red; Lana Snider – 7 blue; Carolyn Souders, 8 blue, 2 red, 1 white, and Dale Souders, 2 blue, 3 red, 2 white.

Displays from Eastview Manor Care Center, Sunnyview Nursing Home and the Grundy County Learning Center were also available.

From Eastview Manor, the following 17 individuals displayed items at the Fair: Marcia Berry, 1 blue; Linda Brunson, 3 blue, 1 red; Sybell Cowell, 8 blue, 2 red; Hope Crawford, 1 blue, 1 red; Donna Gott (Deraffenried) 1 blue; Dolly Hostetler, 8 blue, 2 red; Lois Kelsall, 5 blue, 1 red; Barbara McVay, 1 blue; Lois Marrs, 4 blue, 1 red; Joyce Miller, 3 blue; Dorothy Moore, 2 blue; Ila Mutter, 3 blue, 2 red; Annine Peacock, 4 blue; Pauline Ralls, 3 blue; Bessie Rorebeck, 6 blue; Betty Vonbank, 2 blue, 2 red; and Marion Wright, 6 blue.
